What is the difference between bruschetta and Caprese?

Bruschetta and Caprese are both Italian dishes that call for tomatoes, basil, and olive oil. These antipasti recipes are both known for their amazingly delicious and fresh flavors. However, despite these similarities, they also have differences in how they are served and enjoyed.

Bruschetta features toasted Italian bread soaked in olive oil topped with basil and tomatoes. On the other hand, Caprese is commonly served as a salad with fresh slices of mozzarella and tomatoes, and basil drizzled with tangy balsamic glaze and olive oil.

This recipe for Caprese skewers is obviously inspired by Caprese salad. But of course, we’re taking the dish to another level to make it more appetizing and fun to share. These appetizers look so yummy, who wouldn’t want to grab one of these skewers?

Tips on How to Make Caprese Skewers

Making these Caprese skewers is easy but there are some important tips you have to keep in mind to make sure that your appetizers will be a success and you’ll receive nothing but praise from your guests. Here are two simple tips you should take note of:

  • Caprese skewers will only be refreshingly delicious if they’re made of high quality and fresh ingredients. If it’s possible, grab your tomatoes and basil from your local grower or if you are growing your own garden, make these appetizers using your harvest!
  • These appetizers are best to serve on the day they’re made so don’t make them in advance. If you have a party, you can prep and assemble the skewers four hours ahead and put them in the fridge. Only drizzle the balsamic glaze and olive oil when it’s time to serve them.
